  4.     DIED. Grand Duke Vladimir Romanov, 74, successor to the
  5. vanquished Russian throne; of a heart attack; in Miami. Romanov
  6. was born in exile in Finland in 1917 after Czar Nicholas II was
  7. forced to abdicate during the Bolshevik Revolution. Last
  8. November, Romanov, who lived in Paris, made his first visit to
  9. his ancestral homeland. In his final public statement, he
  10. expressed a hope that "the youth of Russia, who have suffered
  11. so long under the yoke of communism, will return to the
  12. monarchy." Romanov's heir as head of the Russian imperial family
  13. is his only child, Grand Duchess Maria, 38, a graduate of Oxford
  14. University who lives in Madrid.
